Abstract
Demands for clean steel and ultra-low carbon steel are increasing year by year. To meet the demands RH vacuum degasser used for manuafacturing high clean ULC steel, it is very important to know the relationship between circulation energy in the RH reactor and steels cleanness during manufacturing ULC steel. The change of energy dissipation rate in the RH reactor and the steel cleanness by process condition have been investigated. It was found that the energy dissipation rate for decarburization period is four times as large as that for circulation period after deoxidation. The increasing energy dissipation rate at RH treatment plays the main role in the decreasing of total oxygen at treatment end. In order to step up the steel cleanness during ULC steel manufacturing in the RH degasser, it is effective to increase energy dissipation rate after deoxidation.
