Mathematical Modelling / Prediction of Deformation Texture Evolution in FCC Polycrystalline Metals Using Finite Element Method of Crystal Plasticity

Abstract
The development of deformation texture in FCC polycrystalline metals during plane strain compression and simple shear was simulated by the finite element analysis using a large-deformation, elastic-plastic, rate-dependent polycrystalline model of crystal plasticity. The results obtained were compared with those calculated from full-constraint, rate-dependent polycrystalline model. The calculated texture from the FEM showed the same main component with a little different intensity from that simulated by the full constraint model. The simulation of plane strain compression with a high rate sensitivity resulted in weaker preferred orientations in the texture and change in the main component from Dillamore to Brass component.
