Abstract
Heat transfer in a belt type ultra-high pressure apparatus has been investigated. This study is concerned about 1) pressure calibration using phase transformations of Bi and Tl, 2) measurement of temperature at the center of ultra-high pressure cell using K-type thermocouple, 3) finite element analysis for steady state electrical conduction in order to know the aspect of heat generation in graphite heating tube and 4) finite element analysis for transient heat conduction accompanying liquid-solid transformation in reaction cell. The pressure calibration curve shows the variation of real cell pressure with oil pressure. A finite element solution for electrical conduction shows that the heat generation occurs mainly at the longitudinal part of the heating tube. The calculated temperatures were in good agreement with the measured data.
