Reaction Equilibria between Molten Iron and CaO - MgO - FetO - SiO2 - MnO - ΣMxOy Slag Saturated with MgO (3) - Reaction Equilibrium of Phosphorus -

Abstract
The phosphorus reaction between the CaO-MgO-Fe_tO-SiO₂-MnO-∑M_xO_y slags saturated with MgO and molten iron was investigated by changing the MnO content from 2 to 30wt% in the temperature range of 1550 to 1700℃. The activity coefficient of P₂O_5 and the phosphorus distribution were quantified in terms of the slag composition and temperature. The results obtained are as follows; 1) The activity coefficient of P₂O_5 is revealed to be dominated by B"`≡(CaO+MgO)/(SiO₂+P₂O_5) rather than the contents Fe_tO and MnO, it can be written as follows; logγ_(P₂O_5) = -3.361∑A_iN_i + 0.094(∑A_iN_i)²- 18160/T + 21.43 ∑A_iN_i= 23N_(CaO) + 17N_(MaO) + 13N_(MnO) + 8N_(FetO) - 26N_(P₂O_5) 2) The phosphorus distribution was correlated quite well with the slag compositions and temperature, and the following equations are obtained. log k_p = 0.1622∑A_i%i - 0.001179(∑A_i%i)²+ 20870/T - 18.19 ∑A_i%i = (wt% CaO) + 0.3(wt% MgO) - 0.15(wt%Fe_tO) + 0.1(wt%MnO) - 0.5(wt%P₂O_5) logk_p = 7.075log[(wt%CaO) + 0.3(wt%MgO) - 0.05(wt%Fe_tO) + 0.1(wt%MnO) - 0.5(wt%P₂O_5)] + 17060/T - 23.21 log (wt%P)/[wt%P](wt%T.Fe)^(5/2) = 0.0461[(wt%CaO) + 0.3(wt%MgO) - 0.15(wt%Fe_tO) + 0.1(wt%MnO) - 0.5(wt%P₂O_5) + 10190/T - 8.613 log (wt%P)/[wt%P](wt%T.Fe)^(5/2) = 4.269log[(wt%CaO) + 0.3(wt%MgO) + 0.1(wt%MnO) + 10420/T - 13.90
