Development of a Three Dimensional Numerical Simulation Program for the Analysis of Electromagnetic Processing of Metals Using Cold Crucible

Abstract
A three dimensional numerical simulation program based on the finite element method is developed for calculating electromagnetic field of the metallurgy process using cold crucible, H-Φ formulation is adopted to reduce calculation time. The calculated value of magnetic field in three different cold crucibles(cylinder type crucibles for continuous casting and levitation melting and square type crucible for continuous casting) show good agreements with the measured value.
