Abstract
A study was carried out on the possibility whether metal powder injection molding could be applied to the sintering of sieve size Ni-steel powder. Methylcellulose and water were used as binder and solvent for injection molding. An optimal condition for powder-binder mixing was experimentally determined from debinding and sintering behaviour. Relatively good molding and sintering behaviour could be obtained by using the binder constituted of 13 vol. % methylcellulose and 15wt.% water solvent. The binder could be nearly removed by debinding at 650℃ for 1hr. The injection molded parts with the relative sintered density above 95% could be obtained by using sieve size Ni-steel powder(-270mesh).
