Abstract
Ferric sulfate and sodium sulfate in the aqueous solution were reacted to form Jarosite at elevated temperature. The formation of Jarosite (Natro-jarosite and Hydronium-jarosite) was favored at initial pH value below 1.7 and ferric hydroxide formed at initial pH value above 1.8. The formation of ferric hydroxide was appeared to be colloidal, which is to be avoided. The pH value of the solution must be controlled below 1.7 for the formation of crystallized precipitation, i. e. Jarosite compounds. The optimum condition of Jarosite formation was obtained at 110℃ in the pH value of 1.7. The ratio of Natro-jarosite to Hydronium--jarosite was increased with increasing temperature.
